Awards First Annual Robert Risnychok Past President's Memorial Fund
Horsham, PA - July, 2008 - The Associated Builders and Contractors New Jersey Chapter (NJABC) has awarded the first annual Robert Risnychok Past President's Memorial Fund to Ms. Samantha Lockhart of Lyndhurst. The Associated Builders and Contractors is a trade organization dedicated to furthering the merit shop philosophy, which encourages open competition and a free-enterprise approach in the construction arena. The Robert Risnychok Past President’s Memorial Fund was established to honor Mr. Bob Risnychok, a dedicated member and past president of NJABC, after his death in 2007. The scholarship will be awarded annually to any NJABC member firm’s employees or their family.
Mr. Risnychok was a “street kid” from an underprivileged background. After high school, he went to work and eventually went on to found and build a successful bonding and insurance agency. He believed strongly in the value of education, and particularly in fostering future leaders in construction or related industries.
“The New Jersey ABC is proud to support higher education,” says Steve Wouch, Treasurer of NJABC and partner at Wouch, Maloney & Co. in Horsham, PA, “Bob would be so pleased to be able to offer this to our members and their families.”
Ms. Lockhart will be attending St. Peter’s College in Jersey City in the fall. Her father, Paul, is an employee of Handilift, located in Carlstadt, New Jersey. The $2,000 award will be presented on August 7, 2008 at Famous Dave’s in Cherry Hill, New Jersey. Mr. Risnychok’s wife and children will also attend.
